    Biography
    Dr. Eirini Mamakou is a Special Teaching Staff Member (EEP) at the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus, where she has been teaching since 2009. She holds a degree from the Department of English Language and Literature at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), an MA in Applied Language Studies: Computing from the University of Kent, UK, and a PhD from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at NKUA, focusing on developing academic/research skills through project-based methodology.

    She has also taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire (UK), University of Patras, Athens University of Economics and Business, and University of the Peloponnese. In 2004, she served as a permanent Laboratory Teaching Staff Member (EDIP) at the Department of Telecommunication Science and Technology, University of the Peloponnese.

    Biography
    Dr. Andreas Liaropoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus, specializing in International Relations and Strategic Studies. He graduated in 2000 from Panteion University, Department of International & European Studies. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2002 at Aberystwyth University in Wales and earned his PhD from Swansea University. His research interests include international security, information, strategy, cybersecurity, European defense and security, and Greek foreign policy.

    He is a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journals Journal of Information Warfare (JIW) and Journal of European and American Intelligence Studies (JEAIS), as well as a researcher at the Research Institute for European and American Studies (RIEAS).

    Biography

    George Galanos is an economist and Associate Professor specializing in “Economic Policy and Competitiveness” at the Department of International and European Studies, University of Piraeus. He was born in Piraeus and studied economics at the University of Piraeus. He holds an MBA with a focus in Tourism Management and a PhD with a specialization in International Economics and Tourism Competitiveness. He is a member of the Academic Council of the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies.

    He has participated in a large number of international conferences and has published numerous papers in scientific journals and edited volumes on topics such as ONE (Open Networked Environment), Economic Crisis, Governance Crisis in the Eurozone, and Foreign Direct Investment.

    He has extensive experience in project management and in providing consulting services to both the public and private sectors regarding the technical and administrative management and monitoring of development projects and European and national programs. He has long-standing experience and expertise in organizing and managing project teams.

    Biography
    Maria Mendrinou is a Professor of European Political Economy and European Integration at the Department of International and European Studies, Political Science, University of Piraeus. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Athens, an MA in Politics from Brandeis University (USA), and a PhD in Government from the University of Manchester (UK). She has taught political analysis and European politics at Brandeis, the University of Manchester, the University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Crete, the Hellenic Open University, and the National School of Public Administration and Local Government.

    She has served as a special scientist at the University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and held faculty positions at Aristotle University and the University of Crete before being elected Associate Professor at the University of Piraeus. She has participated in international conferences in Europe and the United States and has been involved in numerous research projects.

    Her main research interests lie in the field of European integration, the development of the EU and its policies, as well as dimensions of European political economy. She has also been engaged in the study of electoral politics and voter behavior in national and European elections through her research, publications, and teaching. Her scholarly publications include books, articles in international and Greek scientific journals, book chapters, and editorial work.

    Short Biography

    Ms. Eirini Cheila is a Professor of International Politics at the University of Piraeus, Department of International and European Studies, and a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University (Elliott School of International Affairs). She is a graduate of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Law School of the University of Athens, holds a Master’s degree from Paris II University (Pantheon-Sorbonne) in International Studies, and a PhD in International Relations from Panteion University. She taught for 26 years (1993–2019) at Panteion University in the Department of International and European Studies.

    She has served as Chair of the Department of International and European Studies at Panteion University, Scientific Director of the joint Master’s Program in “International and Strategic Studies” between Panteion University and the Hellenic National Defense College (HNDC), Vice President of the Board of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations at Panteion University, and Member of the Board of Directors at the Institute of Defense Analyses.

    She has been a Visiting Scholar at Virginia Tech University, Department of Political Science and International Affairs, Visiting Professor at Paris II University (Panthéon–Sorbonne), Stanley J. Seeger Visiting Fellow at Princeton University (1996–1997), Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College (1997–1998), and a DAAD Fellow at the Institute Wissenschaft und Politik (2007).

    She has participated in conferences in Greece and abroad as a speaker and has delivered lectures at universities in the USA, Canada, and France on cutting-edge topics in international relations theory and contemporary global political issues.
