    Βιογραφικό Σημείωμα
    Ο Ιωάννης Αθ. Παραβάντης είναι μόνιμος Καθηγητής στο Τμήμα Διεθνών και Ευρωπαϊκών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Είναι διπλωματούχος Πολιτικός Μηχανικός – Συγκοινωνιολόγος του Εθνικού Μετσοβίου Πολυτεχνείου και κατέχει μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο (M.Sc.) σε Μεταφορές και διδακτορικό (Ph.D.) σε ενέργεια και περιβάλλον αμφότερα από το North western University. Στην επαγγελματική του καριέρα πριν από την ένταξή στην ακαδημαϊκή κοινότητα, επέβλεψε τη σύνταξη άνω των 40 Μελετών Περιβαλλοντικών Επιπτώσεων κυρίως μεγάλων έργων και ήταν μέλος της ομάδας διαχείρισης έργου για την ανακαίνιση της υποδομών του Οργανισμού Σιδηροδρόμων Ελλάδος. Στο Πανεπιστήμιο, ο Δρ. Παραβάντης είναι λάτρης της διδασκαλίας προπτυχιακών και μεταπτυχιακών μαθημάτων και απολαμβάνει την πρόκληση της επίβλεψης μεταπτυχιακών και διδακτορικών εργασιών (επί του παρόντος επιβλέπει 3 υποψηφίους διδάκτορες). Στην έρευνά του, στην οποία έχουν γίνει περίπου 200 αναφορές, ο Δρ. Παραβάντης χρησιμοποιεί προηγμένες ποσοτικές μεθόδους (όπως πολυμεταβλητή στατιστική, οικονομετρικά μοντέλα, πρόβλεψη χρονοσειρών, θεωρία παιγνίων και προσομοίωση σε υπολογιστή), προκειμένου να αναλύσει τις παγκόσμιες επιπτώσεις ενεργειακών συστημάτων (όπως αυτά στους τομείς των μεταφορών και των κτιρίων), στο φυσικό και ανθρωπογενές περιβάλλον, ιδίως σε ό, τι αφορά τη διακρατική συνεργασία και τον ανταγωνισμό («coopetition»). Τέλος, ο Δρ. Παραβάντης είναι τακτικός κριτής σε περιοδικά όπως Energy and Buildings καθώς και International Journal of Contemporary Hospitality Management.

    Διδασκαλία μεταπτυχιακού μαθήματος

    Ο Δρ Παραβάντης είναι ένας από τους διδάσκοντες του μεταπτυχιακού μαθήματος Μεθοδολογία – Θεωρία Παιγνίων του Τμήματος Διεθνών και Ευρωπαϊκών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς. Από την πλευρά του, καλύπτει εισαγωγικές έννοιες της θεωρίας παιγνίων, παίγνια ταυτόχρονων κινήσεων, παίγνια διαδοχικών κινήσεων, σηματοδότηση (signaling) και έλεγχο (screening) σε παίγνια ατελούς πληροφόρησης, αποκλίσεις από τη ορθολογικότητα (περιλαμβανομένων αρχών της επιστήμης της πειθούς και της διαισθητικής λήψης αποφάσεων) και επέκταση σε παίγνια πολλών παικτών με μη γραμμικά πολύπλοκα συστήματα πολλαπλών δρώντων. Ο Δρ. Παραβάντης διδάσκει το μέρος που του αναλογεί σε αυτό το μεταπτυχιακό μάθημα με τη βοήθεια εργαλείων αφήγησης, δραστηριοτήτων και προσομοιώσεων μέσα στην τάξη καθώς και κινηματογραφικές ταινίες.

    Athanassios Dagoumas is an Associate Professor in Energy and Resource Economics at the University of Piraeus. He holds a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, where he completed his PhD in Energy Economics. He has over 20 years of work and research experience in energy-related issues. He was the President of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Waste, and Water in Greece. He also worked as a Senior Researcher at the University of Cambridge, as a Member of the Board of the Cambridge Trust for New Thinking in Economics, as a Senior Energy Analyst at the Transmission System Operator, and at the Electricity Market Operator in Greece. Moreover, he was enrolled as a Special Advisor to the Ministry of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change in Greece. His extensive experience enhances his capacity for in-depth understanding of multidisciplinary aspects of the global energy sector: economic, engineering, environmental, and policy. He is keen on developing models for the real energy markets, the energy systems, and the economic-energy-environment (E3) systems.

    Biography
    Dr. Andreas Liaropoulos is an Associate Professor in the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus, specializing in International Relations and Strategic Studies. He graduated in 2000 from Panteion University, Department of International & European Studies. He completed his postgraduate studies in 2002 at Aberystwyth University in Wales and earned his PhD from Swansea University. His research interests include international security, information, strategy, cybersecurity, European defense and security, and Greek foreign policy.

    Maria Mendrinou is a Professor of European Political Economy and European Integration at the Department of International and European Studies, Political Science, University of Piraeus. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Athens, an MA in Politics from Brandeis University (USA), and a PhD in Government from the University of Manchester (UK). She has taught political analysis and European politics at Brandeis, the University of Manchester, the University of Athens, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, University of Crete, the Hellenic Open University, and the National School of Public Administration and Local Government.

    She has served as a special scientist at the University of Athens and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and held faculty positions at Aristotle University and the University of Crete before being elected Associate Professor at the University of Piraeus.     Short Biography

    Ms. Eirini Cheila is a Professor of International Politics at the University of Piraeus, Department of International and European Studies, and a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University (Elliott School of International Affairs). She is a graduate of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, Law School of the University of Athens, holds a Master’s degree from Paris II University (Pantheon-Sorbonne) in International Studies, and a PhD in International Relations from Panteion University. She taught for 26 years (1993–2019) at Panteion University in the Department of International and European Studies.

    She has served as Chair of the Department of International and European Studies at Panteion University, Scientific Director of the joint Master’s Program in “International and Strategic Studies” between Panteion University and the Hellenic National Defense College (HNDC), Vice President of the Board of the State Scholarships Foundation (IKY), Deputy Director of the Institute of International Relations at Panteion University, and Member of the Board of Directors at the Institute of Defense Analyses.

    She has been a Visiting Scholar at Virginia Tech University, Department of Political Science and International Affairs, Visiting Professor at Paris II University (Panthéon–Sorbonne), Stanley J. Seeger Visiting Fellow at Princeton University (1996–1997), Visiting Research Fellow at King’s College (1997–1998), and a DAAD Fellow at the Institute Wissenschaft und Politik (2007).

    She has participated in conferences in Greece and abroad as a speaker and has delivered lectures at universities in the USA, Canada, and France on cutting-edge topics in international relations theory and contemporary global political issues.

    Her academic work focuses on:

    • Greek Foreign Policy
    • Multilateral Diplomacy and Crisis Management

    Professor Cheila has authored numerous articles in scientific journals in Greece and abroad and monographs such as: “The United Nations in the Era of the Sole Superpower”, Athens, Sideris, 1999; “The Evolution of International Society: Timeless and Contemporary Aspects”, Athens, Herodotos, 2006; “International Conflicts in the 21st Century: Issues of Theory and Management”, Athens, Piotita, 2012. Two monographs are currently under preparation: “The International Community and ‘Fragile’ States: The Dilemmas of International Organization”, Athens, Piotita (forthcoming 2020); and “Issues of Greek Foreign Policy: Historical and Contemporary Aspects”, Athens, Piotita (forthcoming 2020).

    Teaching

    She has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Panteion University, the University of Piraeus, the postgraduate program of the Hellenic National Defense College, and at Paris II University on topics such as:
