Bio

Nikolaos Lionis holds a doctoral degree (Ph.D) in Economics and Game Theory from the University of Bristol. His doctoral research, part of which was conducted at the University of Pittsburgh, was supported by scholarships from the Economic and Social Research Council, the University of Bristol, and the Vardinoyannis Foundation. He also holds a Master’s degree (M.Sc) in Economics and Finance from the University of Bristol, as well as Certificates in Public Policy Analysis from the London School of Economics and Political Science and in Banking and Finance from London Guildhall University. He completed his undergraduate studies in Economics at the University of Athens.

He has worked as a researcher at the Department of Economics of the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, at the Department of Economics and the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the University of Athens, at the Department of Informatics and Telematics of Harokopio University, at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as head of research at the Center for Investment and Technology Research of Panteion University, the Industrial Organization Unit of the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE), and the ENA Institute for Alternative Policies. Since 2003, he has been an external associate at the University of Athens, where he continuously teaches postgraduate courses.

At the same time, he has significant professional experience, having worked in senior and top management positions in the public and private sectors, as a board member and management consultant for large companies, as well as an advisor to the Minister of Energy. He specializes in the fields of Game Theory and Strategy, Industrial Organization, and Microeconomic Analysis and Policy.
