Η Δρ. Ειρήνη Μαμάκου είναι Μέλος Ε.Ε.Π. στο Τμήμα Διεθνών και Ευρωπαϊκών Σπουδών του Πανεπιστημίου Πειραιώς, όπου διδάσκει από το 2009. Είναι απόφοιτη του Τμήματος Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Φιλολογίας του ΕΚΠΑ και κάτοχος ΜΑ in Applied Language Studies: Computing από το University of Kent, UK. Το διδακτορικό της το απέκτησε από το Τμήμα Πληροφορικής και Τηλεπικοινωνιών του ΕΚΠΑ, στο πεδίο της ανάπτυξης ακαδημαϊκών/ερευνητικών δεξιοτήτων μέσω project-based μεθοδολογίας.

Έχει διδάξει ως επισκέπτρια διδάσκουσα στα: University of Hertfordshire (UK), Πανεπιστήμιο Πατρών, Οικονομικό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών και Πανεπιστήμιο Πελοποννήσου. Διετέλεσε μόνιμο μέλος Ε.ΔΙ.Π. στο Τμήμα Επιστήμης και Τεχνολογίας Τηλεπικοινωνιών του Πανεπιστημίου Πελοποννήσου (2004).
